Core Team
Andrew Webb is the Director of the C.J.Gorter Center for High Field MRI in the Department of Radiology at the Leiden University Medical Center. He initiated the low-field imaging project in 2017 with collaborators Drs. Martin van Gijzen and Rob Remis from TU Delft. The project is currently funded by the Dutch Government and the Simon Stevin Meester Prize.
Martin van Gijzen is Associate Professor in Numerical Analysis. His research concerns numerical linear algebra with application in imaging and inverse problems. He is coordinator of the NWO-WOTRO project “A sustainable MRI system to diagnose hydrocephalus in Uganda”
Rob Remis is Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering. His research focuses on electromagnetic modeling, wave field model order reduction, and wave field imaging.
Software development
Emmanuel Ahishakiye is a research assistant on the project and a PhD student of biomedical engineering. His research is about image reconstruction in low field MRI using dictionary learning and machine learning.
Merel de Leeuw den Bouter is PhD student. Her research focusses on image reconstruction algorithms for low-field MRI.
Kirsten Koolstra is a PhD student in the Gorter Center with a BSc and MSc in Mathematics from the TU Delft. She is funded by a European Research Council grant to work on advanced image processing methods for MRI.
Xiao Shan is a visiting PhD student from Harbin Institute of Technology. Her research concerns anisotropic diffusion filtering for noise suppression and edge enhancement.
Design & Contsruction
Tom O’Reilly is a PhD student in the Gorter Center with a BSc and MSc from Physics at Leiden University. He is funded by an EU project to work on low-field MRI. He has designed and constructed the Halbach magnet as well as several gradient and radiofrequency coils.
